An after-hours series where live chamber music travels through installations of light, metal and sound.
After sunset, the Modern Wing becomes both gallery and instrument. Across six winter weeks, nine string players perform beside new works in light, steel and recorded sound, inviting visitors to follow the music through the building.
Inside the series
Each programme brings a contemporary composer into conversation with a visual artist. The players change position during the performance, while listeners may move between installations or settle into a seat.
- Performances at 7 pm and 9 pm, Thursday through Sunday
- Mara Ellison’s light work extending through the entire wing
- Composer notes, drafts and scores in a dedicated listening room
- Atrium bar open until 10 pm
Before you arrive
These evenings require an event ticket in addition to gallery admission. Thursday entry is included for members, and ear defenders can be borrowed for younger guests.
