A day-by-day account of how empty galleries become a finished exhibition in one concentrated week.
At Verdigris Row, the final installation week begins with bare walls and ends with the first visitors. The transformation looks effortless only because every decision is measured, tested and reconsidered.
Monday: map the room
The team works from a floor plan and scale model before a single crate is opened. Dimensions are checked again, and the registrar tests the route and sightlines from wheelchair height.
Tuesday to Thursday: build the sequence
The largest and heaviest works are placed first. Lighting waits until evening, when daylight no longer changes the room. By Thursday, the arrangement seems settled—and that is when the most useful revisions begin.
Friday to Sunday: remove, refine, reopen
A portion of the hang comes down so spacing and rhythm can improve. Labels, seating and cleaning follow, then the team completes one last quiet walk before welcoming the public.
